Drawing on her extensive background in education and reform, Dr Claire Bartlett brings a wealth of expertise and a healing-centred perspective to our Positive Duty workshops. Claire holds a Doctor of Philosophy and a Graduate Certificate of University Learning and Teaching from Charles Darwin University, as well as a Master of Education (TESOL) from Deakin University.
Her academic foundation is further bolstered by a Post Graduate Certificate (TESOL) from Macquarie University, a Diploma of E-learning from Tropical North Queensland TAFE, and a Bachelor of Education (Primary) from the University of Melbourne. This impressive array of qualifications ensures that our curriculum is underpinned by deep pedagogical knowledge and a sophisticated understanding of how adults learn.
As the lead curriculum developer for our workshops, Claire has combined her significant academic credentials with decades of practical, local experience to create a learning environment that is both legally robust and human-centred.
Claire's career includes prestigious roles such as Associate Dean and Senior Lecturer, alongside being a published researcher and an Honorary Fellow at the Melbourne Medical School. By moving beyond traditional compliance training, Claire’s approach empowers participants to not only meet their legal obligations under the Anti-Discrimination Act but to actively foster safer, more inclusive, and flourishing workplace cultures.
Darrel brings a rich background in adult education and corporate communications to his leadership of Positive Workplaces Australia. With a career spanning senior roles across government departments, major health services and international organisations, Darrel has dedicated decades to translating complex legal, regulatory and social frameworks into clear, engaging and accessible learning experiences.
His extensive work developing targeted workplace training modules and community engagement strategies forms the bedrock of his practical, highly effective approach to staff development.
Darrel has undertaken comprehensive training and active involvement in the Positive Duty space. As a member of the NT Anti-Discrimination Commission Positive Duty Network, he stays at the forefront of legislative standards and leading practice. His professional professional development includes specialised training through the Australian Human Rights Commission, Our Watch primary prevention frameworks, and workshops on embedding psychosocial hazard management, trauma-informed support and anti-discrimination laws into organisational practice.
Holding a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Darrel pairs deep subject-matter expertise with proven pedagogical strategies designed specifically for adult learners. Through Positive Workplaces Australia, he transforms statutory obligations into practical, engaging workplace learning that empowers organisations to build positive cultures, satisfy legal requirements and eliminate unlawful behaviour.
